The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in collaboration with The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, will present a live interactive Webcast, "New Treatments in Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia: An Educational Seminar for Patients and Healthcare Professionals," on Wed., Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m. EST and 3:30 p.m. PST.
Due to the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Novartis jointly decided to reschedule the original Sept. 19 webcast date.
Patients may register in advance to be part of the live audience at the National Transportation Safety Board Conference Center in Washington, DC. In addition to attending the live event, participants can also register to listen and view the program on the Internet or listen via the teleconference.
If you have already registered for the Sept. 19 program, you must re-register for the Dec. 12 program.
This interactive program will feature Stephen Nimer, M.D., head of the Division of Hematologic Oncology, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York; Charles Sawyers, M.D., Professor, University of California at Los Angeles, Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine; and David Parkinson, M.D., of Novartis Oncology. Dwayne Howell, President and CEO of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, will serve as the program's host.
Topics to be covered are: understanding chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and its treatment; the history and development of Gleevec™ (imatinib mesylate); and treatment for patients with advanced CML.
This interactive program is made possible through an unrestricted educational grant from Novartis Oncology.
Register for the program by telephone at (888) 879-8823
