National Cancer Institute: "CML Information From PDQ For Health
Professionals"
Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is one of a group of diseases
called the myeloproliferative disorders. CML is not currently
curable with conventional chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Allogeneic
bone marrow transplantation from related or unrelated donors is the
only known curative therapy. Survival after development of an
accelerated phase is usually less than 1 year and after blastic
transformation is only a few months, although patients with
lymphoblastic transformation may live longer with appropriate
treatment.
